Commemorating the 27th anniversary of its existence, the cultural association AMBROSIA from Sarajevo performed “LAB 7”. Following Ambrosia’s four fundamental principles, the art performance “LAB 7” belongs to a series of artistic questioning and revaluation of Ambrosia’s position in a pan-catastrophic world.
In the attempt to construct meaning and performance practice, the question arises: Can sound affect cognitive abilities?
In seeking an answer to this question, Ambrosia, by its artistic expression, presents potential tools that it considers useful for its use. Following previous performances, we strive to create an atmosphere that suggests answers to which no one has developed PERMANENT IMMUNITY. Aware of the fact that only “Ideas can poison”, in a world of distorted and perpetuated consciousness where technology takes on the task of disillusioning the world through materialistic mechanisms of addiction production, we find that only laboratory conditions can sufficiently indicate the possibilities of finding answers. Thus, Ambrosia returned to the laboratory for the experimental demands of today, trying to persist in questioning artistic creation and reflecting on emotional challenges brought by social reality.
In the space of the artistic act scene – a stylised box – PHYSICAL DISTANCES are marked, representing a meeting place with the dimension of sound provenance. There, visitors experience the experimental act of Ambrosia’s search for an answer to the question of the influence of various stimuli such as light, sound, marked space and the creation of an environment for critical questioning of reality. We dedicated the performance to the recently deceased Marko Brecelj, one of the creators and bearers of the artistic-symbolic universe to which Ambrosia itself belongs.
